Times of threats to our environment, our health, and our freedom. Environmental degradation has resulted in the loss of livelihoods, lives, cultures, knowledges, and heritages. Emme Christie

Emme is a queer and trans environmental activist-scholar who works along the contours of queerness and environmental identity. As a critical environmental sociologist, my research involves an inquiry into the formation of national and community-level environmental identities through mixed-methods surveys of environmental histories in Jamaica through a mixed-methods survey of environmental history and present practices of environmental discourse and governance. I am also interested in health equity specifically as it impacts trans people as well as how LGBTQ+ peoples experience climate change and the environment.

I am also an environmental, climate change, and human rights activist with the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council.

I love to dance and cook my native foods.
