Dahvia Hylton

 

Dahvia Hylton is an educator and an activist having studied Linguistics and Language Education at the University of the West Indies while advocating for the rights of women and girls through her work with the I’m Glad I’m a Girl Foundation where she served as President among other roles over a 4 year period, providing mentorship and care to girls from vulnerable communities. 


She currently serves as the President of the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council, where she advocates for Climate Justice, applying an intersectional approach in fighting for an equitable future for all. She has served as part of the 1st cohort of civil society representatives in the Open Government Partnership in Jamaica, representing the issues of youth, women, and climate at national, and regional levels.

Eleanor Terrelonge

Eleanor is a proud Jamaican scientist and researcher with a deep passion for driving national development and advancing science and innovation in Jamaica. As an environmental advocate, she has extensive experience in providing strategic and administrative leadership across various domains, including project coordination, financial management, research and policy development, marketing and communications, grant writing, event planning, human resource management, and stakeholder engagement. 

Her work focuses on designing and implementing initiatives aimed at environmental protection, education, and advocacy. Eleanor has contributed significantly to areas such as water management, community engagement, public awareness campaigns, and the promotion of renewable energy solutions. Through her work, she continues to champion sustainability.

Emme Christie

Emme is a queer and trans environmental activist-scholar who works along the contours of queerness and environmental identity. As a critical environmental sociologist, my research involves an inquiry into the formation of national and community-level environmental identities through mixed-methods surveys of environmental histories in Jamaica through a mixed-methods survey of environmental history and present practices of environmental discourse and governance. I am also interested in health equity specifically as it impacts trans people as well as how LGBTQ+ peoples experience climate change and the environment. 


I am also an environmental, climate change, and human rights activist with the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council

I love to dance and cook my native foods.

Jenille Scott

Jenille is the Climate Director for ALIGN, leading the green team and overseeing climate justice coalitions, renewable energy initiatives, and policy campaigns. Born and raised in Jamaica, Jenille is passionate about raising awareness of the global impact of climate change on Black and Brown communities and advocating for climate policies rooted in a Just Transition. Prior to joining the ALIGN team, Jenille worked as the Popular Education Manager with The Chisholm Legacy Project developing environmental and climate justice curricula grounded in Black Liberation and Just Transition, and supported daily operations for WeSolar Inc, the first Black-owned community solar company in the United States. She also served as the New York Field Organizer with Our Climate, supporting youth leaders in advocating for equitable, science-based policies across New York and supporting the organizing efforts of the NY Renews coalition.
